  6. You will now have several choices of device types you can turn with your motion sensors, plus the option to use delay per mode:
    Use Delay Per Mode
By default, your lights will turn off whenever motion stops being detected. This can be obnoxious if you are, say, sitting on a toilet, so you can set a delay after the last motion is detected before the lights go off. To do this, toggle the Use delay per mode switch at the top of the screen. Off delay fields will appear for each mode you have selected. Enter the number of minutes you want to delay the lights turning off.
    Set these dimmers per mode
Select the dimmers you want to active and during which modes they will activate. You will also be asked to set the dimmer level.
Set color temperature per mode for these bulbs
If you have bulbs with variable color temperatures, select them here. You will also select the modes during which they will be active and what color temperature you want them to display.
Set color per mode for these bulbs
If you have color-changing bulbs, select them here. You will also select the modes during which they will be active and what color you want them to display.
    Push button per mode
Select a button you would like to push when motion is activated. This will trigger whatever action you have set for the button in Buttons Controller, Rule Machine or other rule-building apps. You will also select the modes during which this will be active.
Turn on a switches per mode
Select which switches you would like to turn on when motion is activated. You will also select the modes during which this will be active.
  7. When your settings are to your liking, click Done.

Motion Lighting Options

If you want the options to turn your lights ON by overriding your motion lighting automation, click Options for Turn On, Disable and Enable Lights-On. You will be presented with several options:

Switches (or buttons) to Turn On Lights
Select the switches (or buttons) you wish to use override the motion rules and turn the lights on immediately
Enable on/off at Time
If you use a switch to manually disable your rule, you can use this option to automatically enable your rule at a specific time or at sunrise or sunset. This option does not turn you lights on immediately, merely enables to the rule again.
Switch (or button) to disable turning on
Select the switch (or buttons) you wish to disable the motion lighting rules. This is often useful as a “goodnight” button near your bed so you can prevent motion lights from being turned on by tossing and turning or pets as you sleep.

If you only want these option to apply to dimmer levels, click the Override for level only toggle.

Turn on only between two times

Here can define a time frame for your motion lighting to be active. You can select specific times or use sunrise and sunset times.

When you have selected all of your options, click Done.

Conversely, If you want the options to turn your lights OFF by overriding your motion lighting automation, click Options for Additional Sensors, Lights-off and off options. You will be presented with several options:

Additional Motion Sensors
These motion sensor will not trigger the lights to turn on, but if the lights have been triggered by the primary selected sensor, they will stay on as long as this sensor is active. (Example: you can put a sensor in the shower that will not trigger the bathroom lights to turn on, but will ensure they will stay on as long as someone is in the shower)
Additional Switches (or buttons) to turn off
Select any switches you would like to turn off when motion becomes inactive that are not already included in your rule.
Switches (or buttons) to activate off
Select any switches (or buttons) you would like to turn the lights off immediately, overriding your motion rules.
Don’t turn off if already on
This will keep any light you select on, even when motion stops
Modes to disable Turning off
Select the modes during which your lights will not turn off even when motion stops. Your motion lights will still turn on during these modes (unless you disable them in the previous section).
Switch to Disable Turning Off
Select a switch that will keep your motion lights on. Your lights will stay on even if motion stops as long as this switch is on.

Enter a name you wish to control these lights using Alexa. Select a name that is clear and easy for Alexa to understand.

When you are satisfied with your Motion Lighting Rule, click Done

Note: The Remove button will remove this entire rule from your app list.

How To Create A New Mode Lighting App

Mode Lighting apps work similar to Motion Lighting apps, but allow you to set lighting that is triggered by mode changes, rather than motion sensors.

  1. Open the Motion Lighting Apps and select Create New Mode Lighting App
  2. Name your Mode Lighting rule
  3. Click Lights to turn On to select lights you want controlled by this rule. The lighting options you can activate include:
    Dimmers
When you select your dimmers you will also be asked to set the level at which you want them set.
    Pushing a Button
This will trigger whatever action you have set for the button in Buttons Controller, Rule Machine or other rule-building apps.
    Turning on a Switch
This will turn on whatever light or appliance is activated by the switch.
  4. Once you have selected your lights, you must select which modes you want to activate these lights. You may select as many modes as you desire. If you want different lights to activate by different modes you will need to create multiple new motion lighting rules.
  5. If you want the option to turn these lights on outside of mode changes, select Options for lights on. Select the switches you want to use to turn on the lights and click done.
  6. Options for Off gives you two choices:
    Additional Switches to Turn Off
Here you can select switches that you’d like turned off when the mode is triggered.
Switches (or buttons) to activate off
Select the switches or buttons you would like to use to immediately turn off your lights, overriding your mode lighting rule.
  7. Enter a name you wish to control these lights using Alexa. Select a name that is clear and easy for Alexa to understand.
  8. When you are satisfied with your Motion Lighting Rule, click Done.

Note: The Remove button will remove this entire rule from your app list.
