Pushover is a third-party cloud based application that can provide real-time notifications on your Android or iOS mobile device, and computer. when event occur on you Hubitat Elevation hub.

Setup overview

  1. Visit pushover.net to create an account and obtain a user token (a long string of random letters and numbers).
  2. Add the devices that will receive the notification, such as a phone or tablet.
  3. Create an application, which will in-turn respond with an app token (an additional long string of random letters and numbers).
  4. On your Hubitat Elevation hub, create one or more virtual devices, and set their driver to Pushover.
  5. Paste the two separate Tokens you received when creating a Pushover account.
  6. Select Save.
  7. Use your Pushover device(s) in Rule Machine rules and Hubitat Elevation apps to send notifications.

Setup detailed instructions

  1. Create an Account at http://www.pushover.net
  2. Once the account setup is completed, the new account setup process will automatically create a User Key (Token).
  3. There's only one User Key per account. You will find it displayed in the upper right corner of the Account screen as Your User Key.
  4. At the bottom of the account screen, go to Your Applications and select Create an Application/API Token.
  5. Enter a name for the Application. Typically this will be Hubitat.
  6. Agree to the Terms of Service and select Application. The application key will be shown as API Token/Key.
  7. You may create other keys for other applications, but use the Hubitat key for your Hubitat Elevation® notifications.
  8. On your Hubitat Elevation hub, choose Devices from the sidebar, and select Create Virtual Device at the top of the screen, and fill in the fields as follows.
    Device Name: Pushover
    Device Network ID: psh01 (Example only. It may be anything unique name you choose).
    Type: Pushover Driver
  9. Select Save Device
  10. From the Preferences for the device you just created, paste the Key/Tokens in their respective fields.
    User Key: user key/token
    Application Key: application key/token
  11. Press Save Preferences

That's it, you're done creating. You may now start using your new Pushover notification system in Rule Machine® rules or Hubitat Elevation® apps, from which you would like to have a notification sent.
