Hub Protect
How it works
You can protect your Hubitat Elevation® hub with an annual subscription for up to 5 secure cloud backups, including automation rules, settings, and devices. You can also migrate to a new hub, saving hours of time rebuilding rules and joining your Z-Wave devices.
Schedule backups You can set your own schedule for automatic backups or back up your hub manually at any time.
Extended Warranty
Hub Protect extends your 90-day Hubitat Elevation hub warranty for the duration of your subscription, subject to our Terms of Service. Should your hub fail due to a hardware defect during your subscription period, Hubitat will send you a replacement hub.

Migrate
You can migrate a cloud backup to a new hub, saving hours of time rebuilding rules and going through the lengthy process of excluding and including your Z-Wave devices.
IMPORTANT! If you receive a warranty replacement hub, your existing Hub Protect subscription from the defective hub will be automatically transferred to the new hub. In all other cases, your Hub Protect subscription is non-transferable and will remain with the original hub. If you Migrate your database from a hub that is subscribed to Hub Protect, to one that is not covered by a Hub Protect subscription, you may add a new Hub Protect subscription to that hub to use cloud backups and extend the warranty. Hub Protect subscriptions may be canceled any time and will remain active until the end of the subscription period.
- Save a new cloud backup.
- NOTE: Make sure your existing hub you are is online and connected to the Hubitat cloud service.
- If you have not already registered the new hub, you'll need to complete that before proceeding.
- Once you have completed registration of the new hub, please reboot it before proceeding.
- When your new hub has completed the boot sequence and is online, select Settings from the sidebar and press the Backup and Restore card.
- Select the Cloud Backup tab and press the Migrate button on the most recent cloud backup of the hub you are migrating from.
- When prompted check the option to Migrate Z-Wave Radio (recommended), if you would like to transfer your Z-Wave devices from the old hub without the need to manually exclude and join each device again on the new hub.
- IMPORTANT! When selecting the Migrate Z-Wave Radio option, shut down the hub you are migrating from before you press the Migrate button.
- Allow the database migration process to complete.
- IMPORTANT! Hub Protect subscriptions are non-transferable. If you migrate your cloud backup to a new hub, you will need to buy a separate Hub Protect subscription to enjoy the cloud backup and extended warranty on the new hub.
- When the process has completed, the location name will be set to [Your old hub name] (new).
- Press the Hubitat Elevation® logo to navigate to the home screen.
- Select Location and Modes, then update the name of your new hub.
- Zigbee devices are contained within the hub database, but it will be necessary to re-join devices by manually reseting them. Select Discover Devices from the Home screen. You DO NOT need to delete the device from the hub. The existing device will be discovered with the response, Found Previously Joined Devices. The device should resume normal operation and all of your existing rules will be intact.
